Dubai Internet City
Dubai Internet City
Established as a free economic zone, Dubai Internet City (DIC) is an information technology park setup by the Dubai government in year 2000. This initiative was taken in order to capitalize on the emerging e-commerce opportunities worldwide, and to transform its oil-reliant economy into a knowledge-based culture.

DIC is a part of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM) and caters to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) organizations specializing in:

  • Software Development
  • Business services
  • Web-based services and e-Commerce
  • Consultancy
  • Sales and Marketing, and
  • Back Office

Dubai Internet City is located at a distance of about 25 kilometers south to the centre of Dubai city on Shaikh Zayed Road. It has an ideal location as the area is soon going to turn into a downtown. Moreover, it is situated between Dubai Marina and Jumeirah which are the most exclusive areas of Dubai. DIC is less than 1 km away from the seacoast, touching many five star hotels and other industry clusters like Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Village.

Why Dubai Internet City?

In the past 7 years since its launch, DIC has emerged as an Internet hub in the Middle East. Not only does it provide an international level work environment and opportunities for business through networking, it also offers a cost effective platform for ICT companies targeting markets beyond UAE.

Access to emerging markets in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Eurasian countries (worth $6.7 trillion) attracts technology gurus like Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, etc and startups to DIC. Nearly 850 companies and 10,000 employees work at the one and half million sq.ft of office space at DIC.

Benefits of working in Dubai Internet City

Whether you wish to setup your own company, work as a freelancer, or work for well-established ICT companies in Dubai, DIC offers a healthy, functional and facilitated environment. Here are some of some major benefits:

1. Tax-Free Environment

100 % exemption from income tax, corporate tax, and custom duty for 50 years, freedom of capital movement, 100% foreign ownership, and low operational costs make DIC an attractive prospect for both startup and established companies.

2. State-of-the-art Infrastructure

DIC offers next-generation communication technologies to businesses, and its occupants and members. The campus is connected through Metro Ethernet. There is no censorship on the Internet content accessible in DIC. It has the world’s largest commercial IP telephony service. Like digital and high-speed data services, that too is affordably priced. You can also opt for Skype and other free alternatives to paid telephony services.

3. Ready-to-rent Offices

At present, DIC houses one and half million sq. ft. of fully-furnished, serviced, ultra-modern office space. These ready-to-rent offices are fitted with next-generation technologies. They come with 24/7 data, voice, internet, and TV services supported round the clock by reliable customer service units and call centers. You can also hire facility managers like Idama to keep your office up-to-date with the latest technology.

4. Support Services

DIC fast-tracks registration, leasing, work permits and visa processing for members and employees. This enables speedy setup of companies.

eHosting DataFort (EHDF), DIC’s sister concern, also provides secure and reliable Web-hosting for independent e-Commerce sites. It also offers internet, broadcasting, and event management services to DIC’s members.
